Reviving Tradition. Redefining Identity
Kain Pelikat is more than just fabric—it’s a symbol of culture, heritage, and identity. But over the years, this iconic piece of Malaysian tradition has been fading, especially among the younger generation.
At Flapwrap, our vision is clear: to make Kain Pelikat great again.
Growing up, I sold Kain Pelikat at Pekan Nat and Pekan Rabu during my teenagers. I saw its slow decline firsthand. While studying in Scotland, I was amazed by how the Scottish kilt industry thrived—deeply respected, modernized, and proudly worn by all generations.
But in Malaysia, Kain Pelikat was losing its relevance. Why?
❌ Lack of innovation – The design remained unchanged for decades.
❌ Missing functionality – No features that truly support the modern user.
❌ No true Malaysian identity – Most Kain Pelikat in the market are imported from Indonesia or India, failing to reflect our unique cultural heritage.
When I returned to Malaysia, I knew it was time for a change. Leveraging my background in Aircraft Engineering UK, I reimagined Kain Pelikat into a modern essential:
✅Equipped with a pocket – Functionality meets tradition.
✅Minimal yet bold design – A fresh take that appeals to all generations.
✅Easy to wear – No hassle, no complications—just style & comfort.
✅Easy to maintain – We use SilkScreen Printing method.
✅Comfort – Premium cotton
✅Proudly Malaysian-made – Designed with motifs that truly represent us.
With the launch of the Leader Series, we are not just selling fabric—we are reviving a legacy. This is more than just Kain Pelikat; this is a movement.
It’s time to wear our heritage with pride.
This is Flapwrap. This is Malaysia.
